8:30 to 10:30 open dancing (following Club announcements)

Founded in September 1992 at the Danforth Baptist Church (since renamed "Danforth Church"), by lovers of the Argentine tango, Club Milonga is the longest running tango dance club in Toronto. It was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1995. We are open on Tuesday evenings at Danforth Church, at the corner of Danforth Avenue and Bowden Street. (Use the Bowden St. entrance, and go downstairs.) By TTC, we are between Broadview and Chester subway stations.

The aims of the Club are to promote Argentine tango in Toronto, and to disseminate information about Argentine tango in Toronto and out of town. As well as our regular weekly drop-in classes, we schedule milongas (dances) and workshops.

Our lessons and workshops are popular with dancers of all levels in an informal and friendly atmosphere. Lessons are formatted so as to recreate the type of experience one might have while taking lessons in Buenos Aires. Instructors are brought in for periods of generally a month or two at a time, and can range from a selection of instructors based here in Toronto to touring professionals from Argentina.

Our web site provides a link (near the bottom of the home page) where you can sign up for a weekly email newsletter, which will keep you updated on who is teaching at the Club as well as any special events that are planned. the web site itself also has more details about the Club, who is teaching, teachers we have had in the recent past, and other related information. Organizer's nameJohn and Pam Needham
Comments (transportation, music, ...)WE Tango (West End Tango) was created by Pam & John Needham in 2009.

As dancers who first fell in love with each other, and eventually Argentine Tango, they recognized the need for a mid-week milonga in Toronto. So, with the assistance of their son Adrian and various friends and supporters in the tango community WE Tango opened their doors at the Swansea Town Hall Community Centre.

The milonga is known far and wide for several positive attributes, that include:

- a perfect venue with a wonderful floor

- the most welcoming hosts in town

- complimentary refreshements that include freshly baked treats each week from Pam’s own kitchen

- DJ-ing by John… who’s become a master of the music playing classics both old and sometimes new… but always in keeping traditional tango tradition.

Comments (transportation, music, ...)Paradiso is open every Friday evening including holiday week-ends and summer months. This is the longest running traditional milonga in Toronto and treasures the rich music of the golden era. Paradiso's music is in the form of tandas with cortinas (TTVTTM): musical selections are from the beloved orchestras of the golden era, as well as some selections from the “old guard” and some of the best of Pugliese's later music. Paradiso does not play alternative music. You can dance to this beautiful music on a smooth silky wood floor in an ambiance reminiscent of the milonga salons of Buenos Aires!

Subway: Bloor West Line, Ossington Exit Parking:Free on Bloor St. from 9:00 pm till the next morning. Free on Dovercourt all day till midnight. $2:00 per car next door at the Salvation Army lot from 8:30 till the milonga closes, obtain permit from organizers. Paradiso also sponsors workshops with world renowned teachers from Buenos Aires: check blogsite for more information.
